Rival Models of Capitalism in Europe (PS 115/POLI 195)
Spring 2001
The students in this class have been specially selected to participate
as “EU Scholars” in a seminar focused on "Rival Models of Capitalism in
the European Union”. The seminar will focus on social democratic,
Christian democratic and liberal models of "welfare capitalism", paying
special attention to contemporary "third way", center-left governments
(Blair, Jospin, D'Alema/Rutteli, Schroder). Students will attend
a series of events sponsored by the EU Center of California, read work
pertaining to these events, and meet in a seminar format with guest speakers.
